Maple

(Acer saccharum, acer nigrum et acer saccharinum)

Native to the temperate forests of the northern hemisphere, its sapwood is a slightly reddish ivory, while the heartwood ranges from pale brownish-grey to dark fawn. Its texture is close grain and uniform, which polishes well. Maple is widely used to make furniture and flooring, for carpentry, and for architectural woodwork.
