(Betula alleghaniensis)
Native to the temperate forests of the northern hemisphere, its heartwood is reddish brown, while the sapwood ranges from cream to pale yellow. Although softer (25%), its grain resembles sugar maple. This wood is prized for making furniture, flooring, moulding, and architectural woodwork.
